What Is the Favicon Generator?

This free favicon generator allows you to easily create a favicon from text or an image. To create favicon images (or app icons) for your own website, simply input your favicon text or upload an image, select the background and customize font options. The tool will then generate a favicon from the text or image, and you can download and use the generated files.

How to Use the Favicon Generator

Source type

Choose between Text mode to create a favicon from text with customizable fonts, or Image mode to convert an existing image (PNG, JPEG, WEBP) to favicon format.

Text settings (Text mode only)

  1. Input your favicon text. Most of the time, you will want to input the first letter of your app or website.
  2. Select the font name from the list of popular Google Fonts. While most Google Fonts are licensed under the SIL license, make sure to check the specific font's license after selecting it.
  3. Select the font weight. Every font on Google Fonts has different weights, so not all may include the weight you're searching for (e.g., 700 - bold).
  4. Input the font size you want.

Image settings (Image mode only)

Upload an image file in PNG, JPEG, or WEBP format. The image will be automatically converted to all required favicon sizes.

Color settings (Text mode only)

  1. Select the background style from the "Color Settings" tab. You can choose either a gradient, where you'll need to select a gradient start and end color, or a solid color for a simple background.
  2. Choose from popular brand-inspired color themes or enter custom hex colors manually (supports both 3-digit and 6-digit hex formats like #FFF or #FFFFFF).

Shape settings (Text mode only)

Select the shape of your favicon image from the available options:

  • Square - Classic square shape
  • Squircle - iOS-style smooth rounded shape (superellipse)
  • Rounded Square - Square with rounded corners
  • Hexagon - Six-sided polygon shape
  • Circle - Perfect circular shape

Add a favicon to your website

  1. Click the "Download Favicon Package" button to download a zip file. The package includes the ICO format, Apple touch icon, PNG files in multiple sizes (16x16, 32x32, 180x180, 192x192, 512x512), and a site.webmanifest file with your selected colors.
  2. Place the favicon and PNG files in your website's root directory (or another location of your choice).
  3. Add the provided HTML code to your website's <head> section. If you placed the files in a non-root directory, update the file paths in the code accordingly.
