What Is the Unix Timestamp Converter?

The Unix timestamp converter allows you to convert Unix timestamps, also known as Unix Epoch timestamps, into human-readable date formats and vice versa. This tool makes working with Unix timestamps simple and efficient.

With this tool, you can also view the current Unix timestamp, which reflects the time according to your browser's local time. Additionally, you can view the current time in various formats, such as ISO 8601, UTC, or Epoch time in Hex format.

How to Use the Unix Time Converter

From Timestamp

Select "From Timestamp" from the dropdown menu to convert Unix timestamps to human-readable dates. Simply enter the Unix timestamp in the input field - it supports both seconds (10 digits) and milliseconds (13 digits) formats.

You can also click the Now button next to the input label to automatically populate the field with the current Unix timestamp.

Click the Convert button to see the human-readable time in three formats:

  • GMT: Coordinated Universal Time
  • Time Zone: Your local time zone with offset
  • Relative Time: Human-friendly relative time (e.g., "a few seconds ago")

All converted values can be copied to your clipboard by simply clicking on them.

From Datetime

Switch to "From Datetime" mode using the dropdown menu to convert human-readable dates into Unix timestamps. Enter the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second, then click Convert to get the Unix timestamp along with GMT, local time zone, and relative time representations.

Current Time Table

The sidebar displays the current time in various formats, updating every second:

  • Unix Timestamp (seconds) - Same as POSIX time
  • Unix Timestamp (milliseconds)
  • ISO 8601 - International standard format
  • RFC 2822 - Email and HTTP header format
  • UTC - Coordinated Universal Time
  • Local Time - Your timezone
  • GMT - Greenwich Mean Time
  • POSIX - POSIX time
  • Microseconds - Microseconds since epoch
  • JavaScript Date.now() - JS timestamp format
  • SQL Timestamp - Database format
  • Epoch in Hex - Hexadecimal representation

You can click on any value in the table to copy it to your clipboard instantly.

What Is Unix Epoch?

The Unix Epoch Timestamp is a representation of time in seconds or milliseconds. It counts the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1970, midnight UTC (or the GMT time zone in Greenwich, England) for any given moment.
